We are looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer - Steel in Sorocaba (São Paulo, Brazil), will be responsible for technical leadership for product development and launch of Nextracker hardware products. This team member will work with Nextracker product development and manufacturing teams. Responsibilities will include design for manufacturability review and supplier readiness and value engineering activities.

Primary Responsibility

ME - Steel program encompasses all the activities within an organization to define, develop and launch a new or improved product. ME-Steel Engineer will focus all ME activities with a specific focus on steel mechanical product development and packaging.

She/he will be expected to:

• Lead technical qualification efforts to support product launches. Support product development using the overall prioritization, milestones, deliverables, and success criteria for product qualification and ramp. Focus will balance quality, customer satisfaction, cost, and sustainability

• Coordinate product management, engineering, quality, project engineering, applications engineering and vendors to formulate and review task plans and deliverable items, ensures conformance with program task schedules and costs

• Work with senior technical leads to develop technical innovation strategy for the program

• Identify, and analyze problems, taking the initiative to implement improvements identified with a recognized business benefit

• Lead packaging and logistics development and cost reduction initiatives for assigned suppliers

• Coordinate the day-to-day activities required to deliver all projects and deliverables on time

• Coordination of the local market activities

• Identify and mitigate risks

• Host recurring project meetings and deliver status updates to all stakeholders

• Manage external dependencies

• Manage teams of contract support personnel at multiple locations

• Actively participate in client discussions, meetings, and business development opportunities as needed

• Support product development, sales, and marketing as requested

• Internal customer voice; an advocate for the customer within Nextracker

Professional/Education:

• Experience with CM or OEM manufacturing including working regularly with one or more factories on process development, DFM, tooling readiness, and NPI product launches. 

• Preferred: Experience developing industrial packaging designs or implementing in the factory for international shipment

• Preferred but not required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

• Superior communication skills

• Knowledge of complex international supply chain procurement and logistics systems

• Understanding of dealing with customer support and O&M issues

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Demonstrated leadership capabilities with proven management experience

• Passion for solar is a plus

• Availability to travel roughly 55%-60% to start

Interpersonal/communication:

• Fluent oral and written communications in English and Portuguese from Brazil

• Fluent oral and written communication in Spanish is a plus

• Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills

• Results orientation and demonstrated ability to think out of the box to drive results

• Ability to handle ambiguity and respond quickly and flexibly

• Autonomous.
